Dr. Thomas Fowler
Principal Member, Telecommunications Faculty
Dr. Thomas B. Fowler, a principal member of the Eogogics telecommunications faculty offers over twenty five years of research, consulting, and teaching experience with telecommunications and related technologies. His teaching repertoire includes courses on IP-based networks, optical networking, photonics, Fourier optics, and digital image processing. His research and consulting interests include network performance issues, telecommunications technology trends, the mutual interaction of these trends and changes in society as a whole, chaos and fractals, and the systems and mathematical aspects of evolution. He serves as editor of The Telecommunications Review, a widely-respected annual review of trends, issues, and topics in telecommunications, now in its 20th year.
Tom has worked extensively in the development and procurement of large-scale telecommunications networks for the Federal Government. He is currently actively involved in planning the next generation of U.S. government telecommunications for clients such as the General Accounting Office, the U.S. Senate, and the General Services Administration. He worked on FTS2000, FTS2001, and Networx. This work requires thorough understanding of network technology, pricing, and applications. He also works in the area of system analysis and design, including system stability and performance. He did extensive Y2K planning for the U.S. Senate, and has assisted other Government agencies and DoD in their telecommunications procurement needs. Earlier in his career he worked in the fields of computer aided instruction and development of next-generation air traffic control.
Dr. Fowler is the author of over 100 articles, papers, and reviews. He has translated two books, and has presented courses and papers in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, and Europe. His doctorate in electrical engineering is from The George Washington University in Washington, DC; MSEE is from Columbia University; and BSEE is from University of Maryland, College Park, MD, where he also completed a BA degree. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) as well as the American Physical Society (APS). He is also a member of several honorary fraternities including Tau Beta Pi, Phi Beta Kappa, and Eta Kappa Nu.
